In Times of Strife…

Wow. The whole world has turned upside down in a matter of weeks. COVID-19 has stopped the world in its tracks. It shut down the global economy, overwhelmed the medical community, and affected practically every line of business. I will not spend much time on this because I know it is stressful and overwhelming. I wanted to share some resources for the therapeutic riding community.

PATH, Intl. has done an incredible job of reaching out to centers and members and putting together helpful resources in a short period of time. Check out their COVID bulletin here: https://www.pathintl.org/74-about-path-intl/1923-covid-19-bulletin.

PATH, Intl. also emails members with their COVID-19 bulletin that includes helpful information on how to continue their center in this time. They have sent information about the CARES Act (the $2 trillion in emergency aid that Congress passed). They are hosting a webinar for centers & members for FREE on Friday (check your email for login info).

There is also a virtual co-op for EAAT that has been created to share virtual resources among the therapeutic riding community. Interested? Create an account here: https://virtualeducationco-op.com/. I am thrilled to see this type of collaboration pop up in response to the current state of the world. It is easy to feel isolated, scared, and uncertain about the future but remember that the therapeutic riding community is here to help! We all love to share with each other and I hope this continues to grow.

Lastly, I have to give a shout-out to my two favorite centers for working to stay connected to their community. The Right Step, Inc. in Colorado is posting horse stories on their Facebook page and posting horse-y content on their Instagram (@inc.therightstep). GAIT TRC in Pennsylvania is posting informational videos on their Facebook page and posting pictures and stories of all their horses on Instagram (@gait_therapeutic_riding).

I have very personal ties to both of these centers so please let me know of any other centers doing fun things to stay connected and of any other resources. I will do my best to keep this post up-to-date.
